looking forward to hearing more about all of this as you head further down the journey! & wonder if you've checked out sarah blaffer hrdy's "mother nature." she's a sociobiologist and one of the few noted women in the field. no disrespect to dennett and pinker et al, but she does an amazing job of describing female parenthood across species and throughout time, alongside a documenting of her own experiences as a mother of three---- in grad school with several of the above-mentioned men. worth checking out. Sociobiology has had an unfortunate tendency to serve patriarchal interests; her book is an even-handed complementary view.
